We'd like to introduce you to the Stonecrest Elementary School Council (SESC). We are a group of parents and school staff that maintains a school-wide focus on all issues promoting the best interests of the school community.
Stonecrest School Council is a parent and staff body that:
- serves as an advisory body that builds relationships between school and the community by sharing information
- runs programs helpful to parents and to support the community such as the Daily Milk Program, the Weekly Hot Lunch program, and the canteen at sporting events that are hosted by the school, Family Dance, and the Summer Send Off
- raises money to purchase nice-to-have items for the school that the school board cannot typically fund, by providing the best programs/services at the most convenient time of the year
Council meetings are once a month and consist of staff and council executive reports of what is going on at school, discussions about and organization for upcoming events and activities to increase the educational experience of the students or raise funds, and discussion of any issues that could potentially impact our children at school.
Approximately $25 per student is raised over the school year through various fundraising events. In recent years, Council has raised funds to equip each classroom with an overhead projector, wireless keyboard & wireless mouse for the interactive Smartboards.
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month in the resource room between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and are open to all parents/guardians.
Membership on Council is open to any interested parent or guardian. If you are interested, or want to know more about Council, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend to hear what is happening at the school and/or ask questions or raise issues.
